1. Describe
Microchip Technology Inc. 11AA020T-I/TT devices are a 1 Kbit to 16 Kbit family of serial electrically erasable PROMs. These devices are organized in x8-bit memory blocks and support Patented** single I/O UNI/O® serial bus. Using Manchester encoding techniques, clock and data are combined into a single serial bit stream (SCIO), where the clock signal is extracted by the receiver to correctly decode the timing and value of each bit. The low-voltage design allows operation down to 1.8V, with standby and operating currents of only 1 uA and 1 mA, respectively. The 11AA020T-I/TT family is available in standard packages including 8-lead PDIP and SOIC, and advanced packages including 3-lead SOT-23, 3-lead TO-92, 4-lead chip scale, 8-lead TDFN and 8- pin pin MSOP.

5. Function Description
The 11AA020T-I/TT series of serial EEPROMs support the UNI/O® protocol. They can match the UNI/O protocol to microcontrollers, including Microchip's PIC® microcontrollers, ASICs, or any other product with properly configurable discrete I/O lines. The 11AA020T-I/TT device contains an 8-bit instruction register. These devices are accessed through SCIO pins. All commands, addresses and data are transmitted MSb first and LSb last. Data is embedded into the I/O stream via Manchester encoding. The bus is clocked by the control master that accesses the control bus and initiates all operations, while the 11AA020T-I/TT operates as a slave. master-slave can Acts as a transmitter or receiver, but the master device determines which mode is active.
