1. Describe
The 74HC595D is a high-speed 8-bit shift register/latch fabricated using silicon gate C2MOS technology. It achieves high-speed operation similar to the equivalent LSTTL while maintaining the low power consumption of CMOS. The 74HC595D contains an 8-bit static shift register that provides data to an 8-bit storage register. The shift operation is done on a positive transition of the SCK input. The output register is loaded with the contents of the shift register on a positive transition of the RCK input. Since the RCK and SCK signals are independent, the parallel outputs can be kept stable during shift operations. Also, since the parallel output is tri-stated, it can directly Connect to an 8-bit bus. This register can be used for serial-to-parallel conversion, data reception, etc. All inputs are equipped with protection circuits against electrostatic discharge or transient overvoltages.
