1. Describe
The ADS8422 is a 16-bit, 4MHz A/D converter with An internal 4.096-V reference. The device includes a 16-Bit Capacitor-Based Multi-Bit SAR A/D Converter Has inherent sample and hold. this converter Includes a full 16-bit interface and an 8-bit option If necessary, the data is read using two 8-bit read cycles. The ADS8422 has fully differential pseudo bipolar inputs. It is available in a 48-pin TQFP package and operates over the -40°C to +85°C industrial temperature range.

5. Application Information
The ADS8422 is mapped to the CE2 memory space TMS320C6713 DSP. The read and reset signals are generated using a 3 to 8 decoder. A read operation starting at address 0xA000C000 generates a pulse on the RD pin of the data converter, while a read operation at word address 0xA0014000 generates a pulse on the RESET/PD1 pin. The CE2 signal of the DSP is used as CS (chip select) for the converter. Since the TMS320C6713 has a 32-bit external memory interface, the input to the BYTE converter can be permanently tied low, disabling foldback of the data bus. The BUSY signal ADS8422 is applied to the EXT_INT6 interrupt input of the DSP, enabling the EDMA controller to fall on this signal and collect the conversion results. The TOUT1 (timer 1) pin of the TMS320C6713 is used to provide the CONVST signal of the converter.
