1. Describe
The LT®3086-EP is a versatile, low dropout, low noise 2.1A linear regulator that operates from a 1.4V to 40V input supply range. The dropout at 2.1A is typically 330mV. A resistor sets the output voltage from 0.4V to 32V. Output voltage tolerance is guaranteed to ±1% line, load and temperature. The LT3086-EP has a regulated ceramic output capacitor that requires at least 10µF. The LT3086-EP's programmable cable drop compensation eliminates output voltage errors caused by resistors connected to the load. The master/slave configuration allows multiple units to be paralleled for higher load current and heat dissipation without the need for external ballast resistors. Output current and temperature monitoring and power good flags provide system diagnostics and debug capabilities. Internal fault circuitry includes thermal shutdown and foldback current limit. Thermal limit and current limit are also externally programmable. The LT3086-EP is available in a thermally enhanced 16-lead TSSOP package.
