1. Describe
The MAX232IDR device is a dual driver/receiver, includes a capacitive voltage generator to provide TIA/EIA-232-F voltage levels from a single 5-V supply. Each receiver converts TIA/EIA-232-F inputs to 5V TTL/CMOS levels. These receivers have a 1.3 V typical threshold, 0.5 typical hysteresis V, and can accept ±30V input. per driver conversion TTL/CMOS input level translation to TIA/EIA-232-F level.
2. Feature
1. Meets or exceeds TIA/EIA-232-F and ITU Recommendation V.28
2. Powered by a single 5V supply with a 1.0µF charge pump capacitor
3. Operation up to 120 kbit/s
4. Two drivers and two receivers
5. ±30V input level
6. Low supply current: 8 mA (typ)
7. ESD protection exceeds JESD 22
– 2000-V mannequin (A114-A)
8. MAX202 device upgradeable with improved ESD (15-kV HBM) and 0.1-µF charge pump capacitors
3. Application
1. TIA/EIA-232-F
2. Battery powered system
3. Terminal
4. Modem
5. computer

5. Pin Description

6. Function description
1. strength
The power block uses a charge pump that requires four 1µF external capacitors to boost and invert the 5V supply to the RS232 driver.
2. RS232 driver
Two drivers connect standard logic levels to RS232 levels. An internal pull-up resistor on the TIN input ensures a high input when the line is high impedance.
3. RS232 receiver
The two receivers connect the RS232 levels to standard logic levels. An open input will result in a high output on ROUT.
7. Application Information
Capacitors are added for normal operation and pins 9 to 12 are connected to UART or general purpose logic lines. EIA-232 lines will be connected to connectors or cables.
