1. Describe

The TPS4H160BQPWPRQ1 device is an intelligent high-side switch that integrates an internal charge pump and quad NMOS power FETs. Comprehensive diagnostics and high-accuracy current sensing capabilities enable intelligent control of loads. The adjustable current limiting function greatly improves the reliability of the whole system. The device is available in two versions with different diagnostic reports, an open-drain digital output and a current-sense analog output. For Revision A, the device uses an open-drain structure for digital fault reporting. In the event of a fault, the device pulls STx down to GND. An external pull-up resistor of 3.3V or 5V is required to match the power level of the microcontroller. The digital state of each channel can be reported individually or globally by connecting the STx pins together. For version B, high-accuracy current sensing enables more accurate diagnostics without the need for further calibration. The integrated current mirror provides a load current of 1 / K(CS). The mirror current flows into the CS pin resistor as a voltage signal. K(CS) is a constant value across temperature and supply voltage. A wide linear region from 0 V to 4 V enables better real-time load current monitoring. The CS pin can also report faults through the pull-up voltage of VCS(H). An external high precision current limit allows the application to set the current limit value. The device improves system reliability by effectively clamping inrush current in the event of overcurrent. The device can also save the system cost stage by reducing the size of PCB traces and connectors and the capacity of the pre-stage power supply. In addition, the device implements an internal current limit with a fixed value. For inductive loads (relays, solenoids, valves), the device implements an active clamp between drain and source protect yourself. During the inductive off cycle, energy from both the supply and the load is dissipated in the high-side switch. The device also optimizes the turn-off slew rate during active clamping, aiding system design by minimizing the effects of transient power and EMI. The TPS4H160-Q1 device is an intelligent high-side switch suitable for a variety of resistive, inductive, and capacitive loads, including low-power light bulbs, LEDs, relays, solenoids, heaters, and submodules.
