5. Application Information

The VADJ control sets the output voltage of the LMZ31530. Output Voltage Regulation from 0.6V to 3.6V. The adjustment method requires adding RSET, which sets the output voltage, and connecting SENSE+ to VOUT. The RSET resistor must be connected directly between VADJ (pin 13) and AGND (pin 9). The SENSE+ pin (pin 14) must be connected to VOUT at the load for improved regulation or to a VOUT device. The LMZ31530 relies on a trimmed 0.6 V reference for feedback voltage regulation and is used to regulate the voltage ripple valleys that appear on the VADJ pin. Voltage ripple is a function of input voltage and output voltage, so the RSET resistor will vary according to the input voltage. External RSET resistors calculated for multiple common bus voltages with PVIN of 12 V, 5 V and 3.3 V. The recommended switching frequency is 500 kHz and can be configured by leaving the FREQ_SEL pin open. to adjust the frequency.

6. Frequency selection

The LMZ31530 switching frequency can be selected from several values. To select the switching frequency, a resistor (RFREQ) must be connected between the FREQ_SEL pin and PGND or V5V. The recommended switching frequency is 500 kHz for all output voltages, configurable by leaving the FREQ_SEL pin open. Table 2 also shows the frequency for each output voltage range.

7. Power-up characteristics

When configured as shown in the family schematic, the LMZ31530 will produce a regulated output voltage after a valid input voltage is applied. During power-up, the internal soft-start circuit slows down the rate The output voltage rises, limiting the amount of inrush current resources that can be drawn from the input. The startup waveform of LMZ31530, 12V input (PVIN=VIN), the output voltage is adjusted to 1.8V. The start-up wave that the LMZ31530 starts up forms a pre-biased output voltage. The waveforms are measured under a 15A constant current load.

8. Frequency selection

The LMZ31530 switching frequency can be selected from several values, as shown in Table 2. to choose one Switching frequency, a resistor (RFREQ) must be connected between the FREQ_SEL pin and PGND or V5V.
