1. Describe
The SG3525A series pulse width modulator integrated circuit is designed to provide higher performance and reduce the number of external components when designing all types of switching power supplies. The on-chip + 5.1 V reference voltage is adjusted to ±1%, and the input common-mode range of the error amplifier includes the reference voltage, and no external resistor is required. The oscillator's synchronization input allows multiple unit slaves or a single unit to be synchronized with an external system clock. A single resistor between CT and the discharge terminal provides a wide range of dead time adjustments. These devices also have a built-in soft-start circuit and only require an external timing capacitor. The shutdown terminal controls the soft-start circuit and output stage, provides instantaneous shutdown through the PWM latch of pulse shutdown, and a soft-start cycle with a longer shutdown command. These functions are also controlled by an undervoltage lockout, which keeps the output off and the soft-start capacitor discharges when the input voltage is lower than normal. The lock circuit includes approximately 500 mV of hysteresis for jitter-free operation. Another feature of these PWM circuits is the latch behind the comparator. Once the PWM pulse is terminated for any reason, the output will remain off during this period. Each clock pulse resets the latch. The output stage is a totem pole design, capable of supplying or sinking more than 200 mA of current. The SG3525A output stage has NOR logic and provides a low output for the off state.
